I’m absolutely obsessed with the Spiced Apple Cider from Trader Joe’s. As soon as I see it in the stores, I have to pick up at least one bottle. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and spicy and is the ultimate Fall flavor, which is why I used it as my inspiration for my Thanksgiving 2017 cocktail menu. I’ve crafted two different cocktails using apple cider as my star ingredient, that will appeal to the whole family. The best part about these cocktails, is the measurements are more suggestion than strict rules to follow. That way, you can add less gin and more champagne for your grandma who doesn’t want to drink too much or add more cider for those of us still learning to like Bourbon…
The first cocktail, which I’ve dubbed “Spicy and Bubbly”, is a take on my favorite cocktail: the French 75. In place of the typical lemon and simple syrup though, I’ve added apple cider to make it more Autumnal. To make this cocktail, you will need:
- Gin (1 oz)
- Spiced Apple Cider (1 oz)
- Champagne
- Thin apple slices to garnish
Directions:
- Pour the Gin and cider into a champagne flute
- Top with Champagne until the glass is about two-thirds full
- Place your apple slice at the top for garnish and serve
The second cocktail, inspired by my boyfriend Matt, has cozy, warmer flavors – named the Warm and Cozy. To make this cocktail you will need:
- 3-4 drops of Orange Bitters
- A splash of Amaretto
- Bourbon (2 oz)
- Apple cider (to the taste of the individual)
- A cinnamon stick
Directions:
- Place your orange bitters, splash of Amaretto, and bourbon into a glass
- Pour chilled apple cider into the glass to the taste of the individual
- Stir with a cinnamon stick to combine and serve.
